ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — An Ithaca city official plans to step down at the end of the year.
First Ward Alderperson George McGonigal is not seeking reelection. He tells the Ithaca Voice it needs to be somebody else’s turn to have “decision-making power.”
McGonigal has served on Common Council for a decade. He calls the city the “finest organization” he’s ever been a part of.
Earlier this month, Alderperson Jeffrey Barken announced he’ll resign in June to pursue other interests.
