ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — The Ithaca Police Department does not have a leader.

Acting Chief John Joly is on an indefinite leave of absence and currently is considering filing a lawsuit against the city. Tom Condzella, president of the Ithaca Police Benevolent Association, says IPD needs someone in charge.

Joly had served as acting chief for two years, starting in April 2021. He says his tenure was marred by a hostile work environment.
