ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Several kittens have been rescued in the Town of Ithaca, but not from a tree.

The Ithaca Fire Department was recently called to a residence on South Hill after the tenants moving into their new apartment heard meowing. Responding units were able to locate the animals about five feet underground in a three-inch vertical pipe.
Firefighters used a long-handled net that they typically use to rescue ducks in storm drains to retrieve the kittens. Officials with IFD say the kittens are all safe and healthy.
