ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Another candidate has announced a run for Common Council.
The Ithaca Voice reports Jason Houghton will run for a two-year seat in the Fifth Ward. The Democrat has lived in Ithaca for nearly two decades and will run against Cornell student Clyde Lederman. Houghton says the city should encourage tax-exempt institutions to contribute more, and work towards its ambitious goals with more realistic plans.
“Ithaca has a lot of very informed, very energetic citizens who won’t shy away from bold solutions,” said Houghton. “I support that and encourage that, but it has to be coupled with some well-articulated, realistic plans that move us toward broader goals.”
