HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WHCU) — A Horseheads man has pleaded guilty to charges he exploded a device last month in Chemung County.
43-year-old Michael Hilliard was arrested in Newfield after trying to detonate one device on November 3 and successfully detonating another two days later in the town of Veteran. Hilliard’s neighborhood in Horseheads was evacuated after investigators found explosive materials in his apartment.
Hilliard pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of reckless endangerment. He’ll be sentenced in March where he faces up to 12 years in prison.
