HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WHCU) — State Police trailed a U-Haul truck in Newfield on Saturday, believing the driver may have left behind a possible explosive that was discovered last week in Chemung County.

Troopers say Michael Hilliard was arrested and charged with one felony, criminal possession of a weapon. Shortly after the explosive was found, investigators narrowed their list of suspects to the 43-year-old Horseheads man.

Authorities searched his apartment Sunday and reportedly found suspicious and hazardous materials. The area was evacuated out of safety concerns.
