ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – A home has sustained significant structural damage after a chase and crash in Ithaca.
The Ithaca Fire Department (IFD) was called to the 400 block of Cascadilla Street around 10 p.m. Wednesday after a car struck a building and caught fire. IFD says the flames were quickly extinguished, but the foundation was severely damaged. The male driver, identified as 38-year-old Ismanuel Dilan, slammed into the residence while trying to elude police.

Ithaca Police say Dilan was fleeing from a domestic incident where he allegedly assaulted and unlawfully restrained a victim. Dilan fled at the scene and later tried to escape again during medical transport. The Ithaca Voice reports he was found in a wooded area after a drone and K9 search by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.
Dilay is charged with felony assault, and five misdemeanors. Ithaca Police say more charges are pending.
