BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WHCU) – A piece of history has been pulled from the Susquehanna River.

Members of the State Police Underwater Recovery Team were doing a dive detail in November in Broome County when Trooper Kristopher Harris found a large metallic placard. The ornate iron sign was recovered in about 15 feet of water. It was once displayed on the Tompkins Street/Route 7 bridge coming out of the City of Binghamton.

Historians have determined the sign was made some time in 1899 or 1900. It has been donated to the Roberson Museum in Binghamton.
