ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for much of the region on Thursday, July 6, 2023.

Officials say high temperatures and humidity could cause heat-related illnesses. People should avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the daytime and never leave children or pets in vehicles under any circumstances. The advisory runs from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the following counties: Tompkins, Cortland, Tioga, Schuyler, Chemung, Broome, Onondaga, Seneca, Southern Cayuga, Yates, Madison, and Southern Oneida.
