ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – The Tompkins County Whole Health Department is trying to locate a dog that bit someone on Tuesday.
The incident happened around 4:30 yesterday afternoon on a trail at the Mulholland Wildflower Preserve in the City of Ithaca. Health officials say the dog is described as a large black lab or lab mix being walked by a person “presenting as a woman with long hair.” The person also had a second dog, described as a smaller brown labradoodle. Both dogs were on a leash. Environmental Health must determine if the dog was vaccinated for rabies through a ten-day home observation period. If the dog is healthy, it will rule out costly post-exposure rabies treatments for the person who was bitten.
Anyone with information is asked to call Environmental Health at 607-274-6688.
