GROTON, N.Y. (WHCU) — A local first responder is receiving statewide recognition.

Matthew Whitaker is with the Groton Fire Department. He’s been awarded the ‘Basic Life Support Provider of the Year’ for the Central New York region.

The department says it “couldn’t be prouder.”
