FREEVILLE, N.Y. (WHCU) — A Tompkins County village will remove a position.

Freeville trustees recently voted to abolish the village justice. The position will be eliminated in 2026. Current justice Arthur Marchese will continue serving until then.

In related news, voters in Cortlandville recently rejected a proposal that would’ve eliminated the position of second town justice.
