ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – A former employee at Cornell University has been charged in a fraud investigation.
49-year-old Robin Ortega, of Broome County, turned herself in on September 21 after the Cornell University Audit Office found financial irregularities in 2022. Ortega is accused of using a Cornell business credit card to make personal purchases in excess of $500 that she reported as legitimate expenses for her job.
Ortega is facing 24 felony counts of falsifying business records. She’s scheduled to appear in Ithaca Town Court at 2:00 p.m. on October 4.
