CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Cortland woman has been accused of lying to the Department of Social Services and now faces multiple felonies.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office says 37-year-old JerriAnn Harris submitted bad info to DSS about her previous residence and did not tell them she was getting additional benefits from out-of-state. Harris received more than $7,000 she was not entitled to.

Harris was arrested on Friday and charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud, and three counts of offering a false instrument for filing. Harris will appear in Cortland City Court on May 15.
