CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) — One person is seeking temporary shelter after an apartment fire in Cortland. 

Authorities say the fire happened around 2:30 Wednesday morning in a nine-unit apartment building on Northcliffe Road. The fire was ruled accidental, and residents of the eight other apartments were able to return home safely.

The person who was displaced was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
