ENFIELD, N.Y. (WHCU) – The Finger Lakes Land Trust (FLLT) has added property to its William Lower Nature Preserve in Tompkins County.

FLLT recently purchased 26 acres off of Tucker and Iradell  Roads in the Town of Enfield, which will double the size of the preserve. The property contains 1200 feet of frontage on a tributary to Taughannock Creek and ten acres of wetlands that serve as a confirmed habitat for more than 65 species of birds and other animals.

The purchase will also help protect water quality in Cayuga Lake, serving as a buffer for Taughannock Creek, which empties into the lake.
