OWEGO, N.Y. (WHCU) — An emergency order in Tioga County will remain active through early next year.

Legislative Chair Martha Sauerbrey has extended a state of emergency through next Thursday, January 4. Sauerbrey says the emergency declaration bans the housing of New York City’s homeless and transient population being relocated by city officials.

Sauerbrey first declared the state of emergency November 8.
