DRYDEN, N.Y. (WHCU) — Surveyors with the National Weather Service have confirmed a tornado hit on Monday in Dryden.

The EF1 tornado touched down around 5:15 at the intersection of Route 38 and Purvis Road. Wind speeds of 90 miles an hour was reported as the tornado moved northeast through a mostly wooded area between Harford and Virgil.

There were also reports of trees uprooted and damage to some property before the tornado lifted.

In Dryden, part of the Jim Schug Walking Trail was closed for several hours on Tuesday before re-opening.
