CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) — There are a few years left before school districts must begin purchasing electric buses.

Superintendent Bob Edwards says the Cortland Enlarged City School District needs to prepare.

Edwards also expressed concern about the cost. All new bus purchases by school districts must be electric by 2027, and all diesel-fueled buses must be off the road by 2035. The Ithaca City School District recently purchased two electric buses.
