RICHFORD, N.Y. (WHCU) – A popular fishing spot in Tioga County is in better shape today.

The DEC, in partnership with US Fish and Wildlife, Tioga County Soil and Water Conservation District, Trout Unlimited, and Tioga County Anglers Association, recently finished part of a habitat improvement project on the West Branch of Owego Creek at the DEC Fishing Access Site on Route 79 in the Town of Richford.

Two aging structures were replaced with large stones on the stream bank to eliminate erosion and make the spot more accessible for anglers. Riparian tree plantings are planned for early spring.
