CUYLER, N.Y. (WHCU) – Work continues on a project in a Cortland County state forest.
The DEC Region 7 Lands and Forests team is transitioning a 1.5-acre mowed field in Cuyler Hill State Forest to a habitat for wildlife.

Pine, spruce, and red maple trees have begun to regenerate naturally. Previously planted crabapple trees have grown mature enough this spring for protective plastic to be removed. The team has also removed invasive plants to help the crabapple trees thrive and create better foraging opportunities for wildlife.
