ALBANY, N.Y. (WHCU) — One state lawmaker’s Twitter account is suspended, after it was reportedly hacked by cryptocurrency supporters.

The account for Assemblymember Anna Kelles is currently disabled. Last year, Kelles sponsored a bill to ban certain methods of Bitcoin mining. A post promoting a crypto coin appeared on her Twitter page on Monday.

Kelles tells the Ithaca Voice the hack “validated” that crypto supporters are scared. She believes some methods of Bitcoin mining impact the environment in a negative way.
