CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – Two men allegedly responsible for multiple burglaries in Cortland are in custody.
Cortland Police say 34-year-old Troy Schermerhorn and 41-year-old Andrew Fiorentini targeted off-campus SUNY student housing over the last school break. The crimes took place near Lincoln Avenue, Monroe Heights, and Clayton Avenue.
Investigators say a large amount of stolen property has been recovered, but the investigation is ongoing.

Fiorentini is additionally charged with a single count of felony tampering with physical evidence and misdemeanor criminal mischief.
Schermerhorn was sent to Cortland County Jail (CCJ) on $3,000 cash bail. Fiorentini is being held in CCJ with no bail. Both men are scheduled to appear in Cortland City Court on Friday.
