MARATHON, N.Y. (WHCU) – Two Cortland men face charges after a traffic stop in the Village of Marathon.

One man fled on foot and the other fled in his vehicle after authorities attempted to pull them over for a traffic infraction Thursday. 51-year-old Artist Quiller was arrested after a brief foot pursuit on foot. The driver, 62-year-old Anthony Perkins, was taken into custody after being pulled over again a short time later.

Authorities say the men had four and a half ounces of cocaine with an approximate street value of more than $12,500. Both men are charged with felonies of conspiracy and drug possession. Quiller was additionally charged with a misdemeanor of obstructing governmental administration. Perkins is additionally facing a misdemeanor for aggravated unlicensed operation, as well as a pair of traffic infractions.

Quiller and Perkins were arraigned Friday and remanded to Cortland County Jail without bail. The pair are scheduled to appear in Marathon Town Court on February 15th, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. Officials say the investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible.
