CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Cortland man is facing several charges after an incident with law enforcement.

Authorities say Karl Doktorich became combative with an officer in the Cortland Police Station parking lot on Wednesday after a failed attempt to solicit money. The 36-year-old allegedly struck the officer’s personal vehicle before fleeing and locking himself in his apartment.

When Doktorich eventually came out, Cortland Police unsuccessfully tried to arrest him before he again locked himself in his apartment. While police were obtaining an arrest warrant, a report came in of someone slashing tires in the City Hall parking lot. Police say security video confirms Doktorich was the suspect in question, and the vehicle belonged to the officer who was involved in the incidents.

Doktorich is charged with felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in Cortland City Court on November 20.
