CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Cortland man faces charges after an alleged verbal dispute turned physical.
Cortland Police arrested 44-year-old Spencer DaFoe around 3:45 a.m. on Thursday. DaFoe is accused of choking a woman until she was nearly unconscious, breaking her cell phone so she couldn’t call for help, and pointing a loaded rifle at her while threatening to kill her.
DaFoe is charged with felony strangulation, and misdemeanors of menacing, criminal mischief, and criminal possession of a weapon. DaFoe is prohibited from possessing any firearm due to a previous criminal conviction. As a result of this, he was additionally charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon.
DaFoe was taken to Cortland County Jail on $1,500 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear in Cortland City Court on May 3.
