CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) — Construction work at the Cortland Free Library is being covered by state funding.
Assemblymember Anna Kelles says the library will receive over $600,000 to reconfigure the main reading room, expand and reconfigure elevator access, and install an updated HVAC system.
“Over $600,000 to the Cortland Free library means that deferred maintenance and reconfiguration needs can move forward to ensure the library is truly accessible to all Cortland residents,” Kelles said in a statement. “A huge congratulations to the hardworking staff of the library for their great work every day for us all!”
Jen Grany, director of the Cortland Free Library, says the state funding will improve the library’s accessibility.
“We want the library to be a space that can be used and enjoyed by all, so I am excited that this funding will help us make that possible.”
The Cortland Free Library can trace its history back to 1886.
