CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) — The Cortland Fire Department is applying for two federal grants.
Chief Wayne Friedman told the Common Council his department is down a few firefighters from recent retirements. One grant would allow Friedman two hire two career firefighters.
The other is for replacement of a 15-year-old fire extinguisher prop that doesn’t work properly. The Cortland Common Council approved Friedman’s request to apply for the two grants.
Both grants would come from FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
