TAYLOR, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Cortland County man has been charged with attempted sex abuse.

56-year-old Michael Demott, of Taylor, was arrested on Saturday after an investigation into abuse allegations. Demott is accused of attempting to subject a minor to inappropriate contact between 2021 and 2023 at an undisclosed location in the Town of Taylor.

Demott is charged with one felony count of attempted sex abuse, two misdemeanor counts of attempted sex abuse, and a misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child.  Demott is scheduled to appear in Taylor Town Court on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
