CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) — Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposed budget includes changes to funding for Medicaid.

Hochul wants to take the roughly $626 million normally split among all counties and use that money elsewhere in the budget. In Cortland County, Legislative Chair Kevin Fitch tells us it means the county will have to fill the gap.

It likely means taxes will increase.

A vote on the state budget is due before the new fiscal year begins on April 1.
