CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) — Cortland leaders are calling on Governor Hochul to increase funding for local governments.

The Common Council passed a resolution on Tuesday requesting more money in the Aid and Incentives for Municipalities program. Funding for the program has stayed the same for 15 years.

Cortland officials say the lack of support from the state has led to rising municipal tax burdens and a disinvestment in city services and staff. They’re urging Hochul to work with leaders of the Senate and Assembly to increase funding in the 2024-2025 state budget.
