ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — A resolution at Cornell calling on the university to divest from companies committing “morally reprehensible actions” in Gaza was rejected.

The Cornell Daily Sun reports the Student Assembly gathered Thursday to vote on Resolution 51, which was defeated 16 to four. Before the vote, the Assembly heard from seven supporters and opponents of the measure. It would have called on Cornell’s Board of Trustees to break away from any company profiting from Israel’s occupation of Palestine.

Resolution 50, the creation of a committee to review some Cornell policies, passed unanimously.
