ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — The head of Cornell is retiring.

President Martha Pollack says her last day will be June 30. She adds she’s been considering retirement since last fall, but had to pause because of recent events on campus.

Protesters at the university have been camping on the Arts Quad, calling for a divestment in weapon manufacturers that supply arms to Israel.

Pollack says the next Cornell administration will find creative ways to confront global issues.

Provost Michael Kotlikoff will serve as interim president for two years starting in July.
