ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – The Cornell football team has a new leader, and it’s a familiar face.

The Cornell Chronicle reports Dan Swanstrom will be the 28th head coach in Big Red history. He replaces David Archer, who was fired in November after 11 years leading the team.

Swanstrom compiled a 32-11 record over five seasons as Ithaca College’s head coach from 2017-2021. Swanstrom has also been an offensive coordinator at Johns Hopkins and most recently at UPenn, his second stint with the Quakers. Swanstrom has had success at each school and began his coaching career as an assistant at Stratford High School in Texas, where he mentored former NFL quarterback and No.1 overall draft pick, Andrew Luck.

Swanstrom will be formally introduced on Friday.
