ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — A new contract has been signed between the city of Ithaca and the union representing the city’s employees in the Department of Public Works.

Mayor Laura Lewis tells WHCU it was approved by a majority.

The agreement comes after months of long, sometimes tense talks between both sides.  Mayor Lewis says the new deal has an eye on the present and future.

Lewis adds robust morale is equally critical.

It’s the first contract for Ithaca’s DPW since 2020.
