ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Ithaca wants to be carbon neutral by 2030.

The Green New Deal was adopted by the Common Council in 2019. Sustainability Director Rebecca Evans tells WHCU they have several programs happening all at once.

The city is also moving ahead with electrifying all buildings. Evans adds money helps.

Another part of Ithaca’s Green New Deal is reducing emissions from the city’s vehicle fleet by half in the next couple years.
