ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Ithaca is reshaping its government.
A city manager will join the staff next year. Mayor Laura Lewis says one of the key changes involves voting.
“At the moment, the mayor does not have a vote on Common Council — with the exception of the mayor being the tiebreaker,” she says. “Going forward, in a restructured city government, the mayor will have an equal vote.”
Lewis adds the new structure of government will result in “increased effectiveness and efficiency.”
