HOMER, N.Y. (WHCU) – A non-profit arts organization in Cortland County has been recognized for two decades of service.
The Center for the Arts of Homer was awarded a New York State Assembly Citation on Friday, May 12, 2023, by Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan in recognition of 20 years of service to the community. State Senator Lea Webb presented a New York State Senate proclamation to the venue Sunday, May 14, 2023, calling the Center for the Arts an ‘outstanding organization worth of the esteem of the entire community and the state of New York.’
Executive Director of the Center for the Arts, Ty Marshal, thanked everyone that plays a role in the organization’s success.
“The Center continues to enrich the community by providing access to various forms of the creative arts, fostering cultural, educational, and civic engagement, and preserving a historic site for future generations,” said Marshal. “The foundation for the Center’s success was built by our founders 20 years ago and has been built upon through the dedication and continued support of our community members.”
The Center for the Arts will officially celebrate its anniversary with a free, day-long festival from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on June 10, 2023, called ‘CenterFest.’ The festival will have retail vendors, food and drinks, art exhibits, historic tours, children and family programming, local organizations, live music and performances, and more.
