BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WHCU) – Authorities in Broome County are alerting the public to a spike in overdoses.
The Broome County Health Department has seen an increase in suspected opioid ODs since Wednesday. They believe it could be fentanyl or xylazine, but they cannot confirm. Health officials recommend users get test strips for both drugs and have Narcan available.
A similar increase in overdose cases happened just two weeks ago in Tioga County, though no deaths were reported.
