MORAVIA, N.Y. (WHCU) — An officer in a Moravia jail is back on duty after he was attacked by an inmate earlier this month.

State officials say the unnamed inmate slammed the officer on the floor at the Cayuga Correctional Facility several times on March 15 before he was placed in handcuffs. The officer was treated for lower back pain.

The inmate is currently serving eight years following a drug conviction in 2018.
