CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. (WHCU) – The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help identifying suspects in a fraud case.

A credit card skimming machine was found at the Cortlandville Walmart on July 8, 2023. The machine, which fits securely over the existing credit card processing device, was found in cashier lane 2, not a self-check-out.

The three suspects are thought to be the same three responsible for seven other recent reports of card skimmers being found at Walmart’s in Central New York, including the one reported Friday, July 7, 2023, in Auburn.

Officials say to monitor your credit card if you shopped at these stores between July 2 and July 8 and report any fraudulent charges to your bank. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
