ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) — There’s no controller at Ithaca City Hall.

Mayor Robert Cantelmo tells WHCU finding a permanent controller has been a challenge.

The mayor also says a new search is sidelined.

Two previous searches for a new city controller have failed. Steve Thayer, Ithaca’s longtime controller, retired late last year. Cantelmo credits the two deputy controllers for helping lead the city into the 2026 budget season.
