BARTON, NY (CortacaToday) – Three are hospitalized after an accident in Tioga County.

According to State Police, two motorcycles with passengers were traveling on Route 17C in Barton on Sunday afternoon when a NYSEG utility pole broke and fell into the road. Troopers from Owego responded around 12:57 p.m.

One bike, driven by a 62-year-old man from Athens, Pennsylvania, overturned when an exposed live wire struck the 63-year-old female passenger in the back. The other bike, driven by a 70-year-old man from Sayre, Pennsylvania, with a 79-year-old female passenger, went off the roadway to avoid a collision.

The pair from Athens and the 70-year-old man from Sayre were taken to Robert Packer Hospital by ambulance.
