ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) — Three law enforcement agencies in Tompkins County are getting money to reduce gun violence.

Senator Lea Webb says over $195,000 goes to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, nearly $142,000 dollars to the Ithaca Police Department, and more than $46,000 to the Tompkins County Probation Department. The awards, which comes from the 2025 state budget, will continue supporting the Gun Involved Violence Elimination program.

“Keeping our communities safe here in the Southern Tier is one of my top priorities,” said Senator Lea Webb. “Using evidence-based strategies and a holistic approach, the GIVE program enables our law enforcement agencies to reduce shootings and violent crimes. I am pleased that we were able to fund this program in the budget this year.”

Webb says GIVE is responsible for a 28% drop in shootings since last year.
