ELMIRA, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Tioga County man will spend 12 years in state prison.

62-year-old Thomas Cundy, of Lockwood, was sentenced in Chemung County Court Tuesday for a criminal sexual act in the first degree and endangering the welfare of a child. Cundy’s indictment alleged that he committed the crime of a criminal sexual act between November 1, 2021, and November 25, 2021, where he engaged in oral sexual conduct by forcible compulsion.

The indictment also alleged that Cundy committed the crime of endangering the welfare of a child between June 2018, through June 2021. A release from the District Attorney’s Office says Cundy “acted in a manner likely to be injurious to the physical, mental, or moral welfare of a child less than seventeen years old.”

Cundy received 12 years for his criminal sex act conviction and one year for his endangering the welfare of a child conviction. The time will be served concurrently. Following his release, Cundy will be subject to supervision for a period of ten years and must register as a sex offender.
