PARIS, FRANCE (CortacaToday) – Ithaca College class of 2005 grad Meghan Musnicki and the U.S. Women’s 8 rowing team come up short in Paris.
Team USA placed fifth overall, just over two seconds behind bronze-winner Great Britain on Saturday morning. It ends a historic run for Musnicki, the former Bomber and Naples native, who became the oldest female rower in American Olympic history at age 41.

Musnicki reportedly held back tears when speaking after the finish.
“I’m incredibly grateful,” said Musnicki. “I’m heartbroken, but it’s a privilege to row with these women. It’s been a privilege since my first team in 2010 right up until now. They’re an amazing group of athletes. I consider myself one incredibly lucky woman.”
If it is the last hurrah for Musnicki, she finishes with a storied career in women’s rowing as a two-time NCAA Champ, a five-time World Champ, and a two-time Olympic gold medalist.
