NEWFIELD, N.Y. (WHCU) – One person rescued from a Newfield house fire.

The Newfield Fire Company was dispatched to a reported structure fire with entrapment just before midnight on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Newfield firefighters say the people who reported the blaze were able to assist the homeowner out of the residence prior to their arrival. Crews had the scene under control within an hour.

Newfield Fire Co. was assisted by the Enfield Volunteer Fire Company and the Tompkins County Department of Emergency Response. Units stayed on scene to put out hot spots for more than six hours while the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control conducted its investigation. A cause has not yet been released.
