ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) — Ithaca city officials plan to discuss a proposed bird bill.
The ordinance would require all new construction projects in the city to meet bird-friendly standards. Since 1970, bird populations in the U-S and Canada have dropped by 30 percent. Experts cite collisions with glass surfaces as the top killer of migratory birds. Similar legislation is being discussed in Albany.
The Ithaca Common Council meets Wednesday at 6 p.m.
