CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) — A possible tornado touched down Monday evening in Cortland County.

The National Weather Service says survey teams are going out later this morning to assess damage and confirm reports from observers. Several tornado warnings were issued until abiut 7 p.m. The storms came a week after another powerful storm struck the Southern Tier.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office reports many road closures because of fallen tree limbs and power lines. The closures include Muckey Road, one lane open on Daisy Hollow Road, and Route 26 between Taylor Valley and Townline.

Sheriff Mark Helms says the list will be updated today.
