ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) — Cornell aims to enhance an engineering building.

The university plans to modernize Phillips Hall. Cornell Architect Margaret Carney calls the project “long overdue.”

“The building right now on the inside looks like nobody has touched it in 50 years,” she says. “It has narrow corridors, no glass, no daylight, no flexibility, very few women’s restrooms.”

The construction would conjoin Phillips Hall with Duffield Hall. Carney says it would be a lively spot for students.

“The activity, the level of pedestrian connection between these two buildings is going to be high,” she says.

University officials hope to start construction in spring 2025 and complete the project in summer 2028.
